Sir,

     As you are aware, that Delhi Public Library is an autonomous organisation fully financed by the Ministry of Culture provides free library services to the citizens of Delhi. At present library comprises of a Central Library, Branches, Sub-Branches, Community Libraries, R.C. Libraries and a Braille Library for the Blind. Libraries for the prisoners at Tihar Jail and a fleet of Mobile Vans. The Library has a centralized acquisition system of books and other reading materials. The budget for this purpose is one crore fifty lakh rupees per annum. The Delhi Public Library is also one of the Recipient Libraries under the provisions of the Delivery of Books & Newspaper Act 1954 (27 of 1954). Under the provisions of the Act the Library is entitled to receive one copy of each and every publication published in the country free of charge since 16th December, 1981.

 

     Under the provisions of a new acquisition policy library management has decided that multiple copies required for the entire system be purchased direct from the publishers who submit the copy/copies under the provisions of the aforesaid Act.

 

 

     You are, therefore, requested to send one copy of the books published by you at the earliest enabling us to start process of purchasing of multiple copies direct from you.

 

     An early response will be much appreciated.
