Lending of Books

Issuing Books and reading materials to its members is the main service of every library. 1,65,854 registered members are availing this service from DPL upto 31.3.2021. In DPL, books are issued to members for a maximum period of 14 days which may be further renewed for another 14 days either in person or online. Books may be renewed for maximum of two times. No renewal will be given if other member has reserved for the same book. Books are to be returned on or before due date marked. Overdue fine of Rupees 2.00 for adults and  Rupee 1.00 for children will be charged per book per day for late return of book. e-Payment facility is also available for all sort of payments.

Members are responsible for the safe custody of their borrower's/ membership cards. Members will be held responsible for their misused/ lost borrower's/ membership cards. In case of loss of membership card, a copy of FIR, application in the name of Head of the Library requesting therein to issue Duplicate Card and a charge of Rs. 20/- is to be paid.

Membership card will be valid for One year. Counter for issue/return of books will be closed 15 minutes before the closing time of the library. Before leaving the issue counter the member shall satisfy himself/herself, whether the book is in good condition and if not shall bring to the notice of the person issuing book at the counter, otherwise she/he will be held responsible for the replacement of the book. In case the book is lost by the member, he/she will be required to pay the cost of the book plus fine.
